drug den dream

dream from this morning:

i was checking out some sort of metal barn in some neighborhood. the houses were tightly packed together. this guy was assuring me that this uninsulated pole barn would be a good place to have heavy metal shows. "not really, there's nothing baffling the sound," i told him.

next door was a bar in someone's backyard. it looked like a little log cabin. we went over to have a drink. i lost the people i was with and went up some stairs. at the top of the stairs was some sort of drug den. the place was dirty. a couple filthy couches and junk was spread everywhere. it was missing a wall on one side and the roof was completely gone. a former friend was up there. he greeted me and offered me a line to snort. i didn't want to get addicted, but i figured since i didn't pay for it i would do it anyway. i curled into a fetal position and took a nap as the drug took hold.

while i was nodding off, i could hear him talking about money laundering. apparently the money came from asian laundromats, and in turn, it was spent on high end star wars collectible toys (to avoid suspicion.) later i noticed a bunch of classic star wars figures encased in protective plastic in a tote by the missing wall.

after the drug had mostly worn off, another friend came up to get me. he said there was too much illegal activity and we needed to chill somewhere. he ended up handing me a small packet of drugs. the package was sealed and each drug was labeled and looked like a different chewable vitamin. there was a purple one that looked like a spaceship, a green one that looked like a coffin and one that looked like a ruby. another one looked like a quartz crystal.

we were walking and talking and i put the packet in another larger bag. the guy asked what i was doing and said the stuff was delicate. we opened my bag up and sure enough, some of the crystal looking drug had broken up into pieces. there were also broken pieces of dried banana chips everywhere. i couldn't remember if they were in the original packet or not. i put everything inside the original package. he handed me another smaller packet with only two drugs in it and told me that's what hunter s. thompson was on when he wrote 'fear and loathing in las vegas'. i put that one in my other pocket for safe keeping.

we walked back toward the original drug den location. the police had the place surrounded and were searching it.

then i woke up.

the end?

american idol cruise ship

dream from this morning:

i was on an american idol cruise ship. there were day challenges and some water sports before the live  primetime broadcast. i was chosen to sing and compete. kurt cobain was up first. he was singing a new song that wasn't finished. his voice was hoarse and the chords were grating. there was a big oval shaped table on an upper level where the judges were seated. you could watch them on nearby monitors. it was clear by their reactions they didn't like it.

i was up next. it suddenly occurred to me that i hadn't even chosen a song to sing. as they cut back from commercials, i was standing at the giant karaoke machine. i had less than 30 seconds. got into the "A's" and saw AC/DC. i figured i knew every AC/DC song. i scrolled down and hit the screen as it was moving. "only young" popped up. it didn't sound familiar.

the director pointed at me as the cameras all turned my way. the song started, i had no idea. generic AC/DC riffs banged away. the lyrics poppped up and i tried to hum a brian johnson sounding line. i hemmed and hawed my way through it. the judges were wincing. i stopped singing a couple times. then it was over. i went to the lounge where the other contestants were. some offered condolences. i knew i would get voted off the island. an older guy with gray curly hair said he thought it was good. the staff brought back some "superfan" who wanted me to take a photo holding some lace fabric he had. i tried to say no but did it anyway.

then i woke up.

the end?

dream: mom turned into a cat, two petes, uncle dave & the paper wafer ritual

dream from this morning:

i found a postal truck that was unlocked.  on the dash was a wallet and passport that belonged to my uncle dave. he showed up and i gave him a hard time about it. we drove the truck to a crowded restaurant. everything was woodgrain brown in color. they sat us in the back, where everyone was smoking. i started smoking also, while my uncle flirted with a few big hairdoo ladies.

eventually we leave to go see my mom. when we get there, mom has a cat nose instead of a human nose. i ask what happened and she doesn't understand. i try to take a photo of it with my phone but it doesn't show up. everyone just thinks i'm being silly.

mom and i jump into a pod car and uncle dave jumps into a different pod car. we drive over a large overpass. there is an accident behind me. at first i think it's my uncle but it turns out it was two guys named pete, one from my college days and another from a band i know.

we finally arrive at jason rich's house. mom is in a wheelchair and bundled up in a blanket. i introduce my mom to jason and she doesn't say anything. just starts shaking her tail. (?)

jason has his nephew on his lap. the kid has a big wafer of paper in his mouth. jason is trying to get it out using a large white envelope. i ask why he doesn't just reach in the mouth and remove it? he tells me it's part of his religious tradition and shows me the candles: tall blue and white candles in bunches of 4 around a large circle. what?

i turn back to my mom and she has completely turned into a cat now. a 20 lb orange and black calico. she slides off the wheelchair and onto the floor. suddenly she sprints out the door. i run after her. when i get outside, i see the house is a brick ranch style with a side driveway and carport. mom (the cat) is hiding near a bush. i pick her up and tell her "it's not safe out here for you as a cat" and take her back inside.

i can't remember anything after that.

the end?
